Magical Moments that Speak Loudly!

Yesterday, I visited a charm store in Takoma Park, MD to look for a crystal and whatever other stone I was drawn to or needed to receive. From time to time, I like doing this to bring a refreshing energy into my life or one that is supportive of my current state of affairs. Since I gifted the earth with the last big crystal in the wealth & prosperity section of the house that is not contained within the bagua map, I was moved to get another one. Crystals are great for magnifying and keeping the energies of your other stones clear and strong and of course they are great keeping your energy field and that of your home, nice and clear.

I got two key chains. One that is a carving of the Buddha which also has a light for finding your keys or key hole; the other is of the carnelian stone. There were not many stone key chains to select from so I closed my eyes and picked the one that I needed the most trusting that it will be just what the universe ordered. I was also drawn to a beautiful turquoise and white jade bracelet which had four turquoise stones and seven white jade ones nicely arranged. It looks like a jade & turquoise charm bracelet and I couldn't resist gifting myself!

I love collecting stones and have utilized them for healing myself, my family & friends, my clients as well as to beautify and lace the energies of my home, car, work space and body for decades. I believe in stones and that they each carry a unique vibration and serve a purpose in the beautiful landscape and ecological system of our planet. They continue to support my life here on earth.

Most times, I buy stones on an intuitive hunch trusting that I will select just what I need. Later on it always turns out to be just the stone I need for balance and wholeness. With the Womb Activism Training is in its 3rd week, the carnelian stone fits quite nicely into the scheme o things for more than one reason. Carnelian is said to be the power stone; one of "drive and ambition" and I must say that my own inner drive & ambition have been up a few notches. I am currently recreating myself and my career so this is so perfect. It is also known to be an excellent career stone and can be helpful in making clear decisions and choices.

Carnelian is thought to open your heart and bring joy. It supports one’s individuality and courage. Carnelian signifies the male aspect of Spirit. A keyword would be Action! One phrase associated with it is ‘God helps those who help themselves.’ Carnelian is thought to Fortify and strengthen the body. Like all in the agate family, it is a protective stone, and thought to bring good luck and the ability to manifest ones’ desires. Carnelian has traditionally been used to help ease sorrow and protect from anger, envy jealousy and fear. It is thought to act as a memory aid, including the recall of past lives. In crystal healing, carnelian has been used to heal open sores, kidney stones and other kidney problems and allergies. Shaman’s have given this stone to assist one in finding the right mate and stabilize energy in the home. It has been called the "actor's stone." Carnelian is associated with the root and sacral chakras - the Womb center.

Well, I am currently studying Acting/Theater and this stone could not have come at a better time since I can truly feel some deeply held and lost creative energies reawakening from deep inside of me.

In addition to getting the most suitable and needed stones for myself, something magical happened yesterday. In the shop - and it's a really neat shop that reminds me of a pagan or middle eastern treasure store owned by a witch - there was a blue and white stone hanging and a few of them I also saw in a bowl. It caught my attention and I was drawn to it but I needed to limit my sporatic spending since I still had to get some supplies for "Midnite" our new puppy. I did, however, say to myself that I'd return to get it. Ironically, I could tell that the owner of the store was not very knowledgeable about stones, yet she was a sweet old lady. She did carry an array of other sensual, creative and spiritual accessories such as candles, jewelries, scarves, bowls, decorative arts all of a culture, spiritual flair - Asian, Mediterranean, European, Baltic, Pagan, Buddhist etc., etc.

So I left the store and went on with running my errands. Later I dropped by the Blue Nile botanical herbs store a couple of blocks north of Howard University on Georgia Avenue. As I stood at the counter speaking with Duku, the owner, and asking for his hottest cayenne pepper to use for my Liver Flush, my eyes locked on the same stone that hung from their shelf. In all my years of going to that shop, I've never seen the "evil eye" stone there. I said to myself, 'There goes that stone I just saw! Hmmm......!!!" I soon dismissed it and went about my business.

Then I made a trip to Union Station later that evening and as I was leaving I saw a real soft and feminine orange bag hanging from a vending stand that called my attention. I walked over to check it out. The vendor however, was not present, so I got limited help from the neighboring vendor who assured me that she'd be back shortly. As I turned around to face the vending stand immediately in front of the orange bag, there hanging among the merchandise was the same stone. My heart skipped a beat and I instantly said to my self, "Oh my! There goes that stone again!!!" Three's a charm! This time I knew it was a strong message and I needed to comply. I knew then and there that I was being instructed to go back to the charm store and get me the stone. I have just done a bit of research on the stone and here is what it looks like and has to offer.

That stone is called a nazar, lucky eye or evil eye stone and is even called the "Eye of Medusa" - the mythical Greek gorgon.. And its been a while since I've seen one. It is a Turkish amulet that is used to protect against the evil eye. Like that old superstition belief that when give one lets out a series of sneezes -out of the blue - then it is said that someone is talking about you. I felt that same strange feeling that someplace, somehow, somewhere individuals were carving out a negative space with me in the middle. We can't be everywhere at the same time but I personally have a host of angels and ancestors that are always protecting me. They lead me to the right people, places and things and keep me safe and protected. Lately, I've acknowledged their presence in my life, openly speaking to them. I have to admit that I sometimes forget that they are with me all the time. They truly, truly "got my back!"

From time immemorial, from our gut feelings, we instantly become wary of strangers with greedy or mean eyes. We know from experience, that effusive praises should be taken with a pinch of salt, for behind all the gushes, smiles and the adoring eyes, the person is probably itching to wring your necks or stab you from behind. The Turks have devised the Evil Eye Pendant to guard themselves from such not-so-well-meaning people with their necessarily evil eyes.

Now I know from yesterday's experience that I must add more protection to myself and my family. The evil eye, the evil people and the evil forces do exist as one of the many dimensions of our reality.

I'm off to take my crystal out of the sea salt water I soaked it in and placed on my altar overnight. It's now ready to emit its healing vibrations in my home and my life. Love and gratitude to my angels, ancestors and all the spiritual protection that my family and I have.

Enjoy this video which reminds us that "Life is one big road with a lot of signs....."
